Gluten & Grain Free, Paleo Inspired Recipes for Good Health and Well-Being
This book is a must-have because your family’s health matters. Let ‘THE JOYful TABLE’ guide and inspire you to food that is tasty and healthy. This truly informative and mouth-watering book by Susan Joy features a collection of traditional and family dishes that are gluten/grain free and paleo inspired. It is more than a cookbook, it’s the start to a healthier lifestyle.
I was recently sent a copy of The Joyful Table by Susan Joy to review on Get Cooking. As someone who has to eat gluten free, it’s my pleasure to tell you all about a cookbook filled with gluten free recipes!
First of all, allow me to say this – The JOYful Table isn’t JUST for those of us who eat gluten free or for our culinary “cousins,” those who follow the Paleo diet. This book is filled with wholesome, creative, flavorful, healthy, and delicious recipes anyone will enjoy.
Having said that, it is most definitely the next cookbook you should buy for your gluten free loved ones – even if you ARE your gluten free loved one.
As someone who has hundreds of cookbooks, it’s a special “joy” to open one that’s as gluten free as I am. I don’t have to worry about mentally “fixing” recipes or “judging” ingredients. I can just lose myself in the magic of the recipes.
It’s a luxury you take for granted until you lose it, trust me. Thankfully, more and more gluten free cookbooks are coming out each year and this one is a straight up winner.
You know the old saying, “You are what you eat.” The JOYful Table: Gluten & Grain Free, Paleo Inspired Recipes for Good Health and Well-Being author Susan Joy (like many of us) doesn’t just know the saying, she lives the saying.
For years, she lived with nutrition-related illness and poor health. However, when she discovered the Paleo diet, her life turned around.
In her new book, The JOYful Table, Joy makes her personal transformation available and attainable to all. By combining the natural ingredients of the Paleo lifestyle with her own expertise and personal knowledge of food, she dismisses the idea that wholesome living and bland meals go hand in hand.

As a Paleo cookbook author myself, it was a treat to browse through Susan's book. She has a very approachable style to Paleo cuisine, from providing a thoughtful overview of useful ingredients to including recipes that hit every category, even "Gravy, Sauces & Dressings" and "Toppings & Spreads." I love those little touches! That's what makes the meal, in my opinion. Being able to mix and match your favorite condiments and sides means that you'll never have the same meal twice. (Unless you want to, of course.) Susan's go-to flours are almond and flax, and she uses plenty of coconut milk and cream. Yum! And since Paleo folks generally steer clear of dairy, diners who need to avoid dairy products will be delighted with the cheesecakes, puddings, and recipes for cashew-based sour cream and cheese staples they'll find here. Paleo recipes are also gluten-free, so those who need to avoid wheat and gluten will also find plenty of inspiration in these pages. With over 300 pages and 100+ color photos, this oversized cookbook is perfect for armchair browsing AND using in the kitchen!
